The LastPage: Together with Namaste Care™

After 347 days, “the Last Page” project has reached its final chapter, culminating in The LastPage Expo and the Ceremony for Spiritual Care Assistants. We are deeply grateful for the support from the HKEX Foundation, and especially for the presence of Mr. Matthew Lee, Assistant Vice President, who delivered an encouraging speech. His words inspired all the Spiritual Care Assistants to continue using their strengths to bring hope to the final journey of life for elderly individuals in end-of-life care. An individual may walk fast, but a group that shares the same vision can go far. In the morning, we specially organized two workshops to share with the public how to care for the elderly through aromatherapy and five-sense engagement. Over 200 participants attended, and we hope they will bring what they have learned back to their communities. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to our special guest speakers. Mr. Joseph Yuen, Deputy Head (Social Services) of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, delivered an insightful and engaging talk on how to stay energized in the elderly care sector. Ms. Annie Tsang, founder of the Arome of Love, shared her personal journey of how Aromatherapy for Spiritual End-of-Life Care has helped transform communities. In addition, Ms. Samantha Siu, Service-in-charge, Shatin Integrated Home Care Services Centre ,Hong Kong Children & Youth Services, and Ms. Law, a Spiritual Care Assistant, shared touching stories of how elderly lives have been filled with love and hope through the care provided by Spiritual Care Assistants. Our partners, from first hearing about Namaste Care to being willing to give it a try — offering venues, connecting with service users, and witnessing how Namaste Care brings smiles and renewed hope to the elderly — have come together at the Expo today. It is their belief in the impact of Namaste Care on the community that drives this united and proactive effort, marking an important step toward building a compassionate society. From training to wholehearted service, Spiritual Care Assistants have been devoted to designing personalized care for each elderly person, including five-sense experiences, loving touch, and meaningful storytelling. These efforts help lonely elders feel cared for and warm. The assistants act as Compassionate Connectors, bridging care across the community and extending the mission of “honoring the spirit” of elders into every corner.
